Karis is an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults.
Reaching out for support or speaking with a counsellor for the first time can feel overwhelming. Karis’ approach is warm and empathetic, and she is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable. Karis is also happy to discuss what this means to you and explore how she can best support you to feel comfortable throughout your sessions.
This is your journey, and Karis will explore your hopes, expectations, needs, and preferences so that she can tailor the counselling experience to suit you. Her training is integrative, enabling her to draw from various therapeutic approaches to find the most effective way to support each individual.
Karis is experienced in providing counselling for survivors of trauma, particularly adults who have experienced sexual violence, whether in childhood or adulthood. In addition, she has a professional background working with survivors of domestic abuse and in services supporting individuals living with HIV. While she specialise in these areas, she welcomes clients with a wide range of concerns and experiences.
If you are considering counselling, Karis offers a complimentary telephone consultation. This initial conversation allows you to connect, discuss your needs, and determine if she is the right counsellor to support you before booking your first session.
Karis is a qualified counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She also has a Certificate in Working with Trauma, and an MA in Gender, Media and Culture. She is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works in accordance with their ethical framework.
Karis has over a decade of experience in the charity sector, working in services supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, as well as people living with HIV. This experience has deeply informed her practice and shaped her commitment to supporting clients with sensitivity, respect, and an understanding of complex trauma and social justice issues.
